Do you need a kennel bigger than will fit through your doorway?

Kennel & Crate builds custom, luxury dog kennels to order. Our standard designs are delivered fully assembled, so they need to fit through your home’s entryway.. We now offer kennels that can be easily assembled on-site, so you can order a kennel as deep and tall as your dog needs and still get all the quality and style that a Kennel and Crate custom kennel has to offer.

To be honest, constructing a kennel in this manner takes a lot of extra labor, so there is a significant upcharge. We know our kennels are already expensive and this build option adds more money to the kennel, but we simply won’t cut corners and compromise the structural integrity of the kennel, the beauty of the design features or make it difficult to assemble.

The kennel base goes down first. The front of the kennel (complete with your choice of barn or hinged doors), stands up in front, with the side panels locking it into place. Then the top goes on. The screws are then lightly tightened into the pre-drilled holes (using your own Phillips screwdriver). The back is then angled into place, lifting the lid slightly to allow the back to lock into place under the top. Then tighten the bolts with the provided Allen wrench, and fully tighten the screws.

We’ve done several of these over the years, and each one has been an exercise in re-inventing the wheel. This year, we had many inquiries, so we convened the team to re-think how we do this and improve our techniques to ensure consistency and quality. We were so successful with our improvements that we’ve actually decided to tell people out this option and offer it consistently.

Why is it so expensive? Well, it’s all about the details. We have to dry fit each piece and carefully mark which sections can be painted and stained. If we paint pieces that touch, your paint could stick together and then possibly chip and we can’t have that! Then we have to take the same care when we apply the sealant coat. We make sure each section fits like a glove and pre-drill all the screw and bolt holes to ensure a smooth assembly. All of that extra care actually doubles the labor it takes to build a kennel. We know that this can put the kennel out of some budgets, but we simply won’t compromise our quality. What about shipping costs? We were hopeful that we could offer some savings back on shipping since it is shipped flat packed and not fully assembled, but it’s just not any cheaper to ship it flat. The standard shipping charge applies. If you are looking to get a kennel for your RV, just drive it to Stillwater, Oklahoma to save the shipping cost and we will assemble it in your RV for your at no charge!

Size, door style, chew guards, style elements, paint and stain colors and techniques are all up to you. But keep in mind that our kennels are not designed for transport. They are not crash or crush tested.
